Kangpokpi, 23 April 2025 โ The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU), Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, has strongly condemned the recent burning of Gampal and Haijang villages, including a church, in the Chassad area of Kamjong District.
In a press statement released by the Department of Information & Publicity, CoTU denounced the act as a grave violation of human decency, calling it a โdeeply disturbing and unacceptableโ attack on sacred spaces and innocent Kuki-Zo communities.
The organisation stressed that the heinous incident of 23rd April threatens not only the peace and harmony of the region but also strikes at the heart of shared values such as unity, tolerance, and humanity. CoTU expressed solidarity with the affected families, offering their deepest sympathy and unwavering support.
Calling for urgent action, CoTU appealed to the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and implement measures to prevent future acts of terror and hatred. They also urged all communities, irrespective of faith or background, to unite in condemning violence and promoting peace, understanding, and coexistence.
