The Kuki-Zo Council vehemently condemns the shocking and violent attack on Mr. Richard Laltanpuia that occurred last night. This act of aggression against a well-respected community leader is deeply troubling. Mr. Richard Laltanpuia, who serves as the General Secretary of Hmar Inpui GHQ and Finance Secretary of the Kuki-Zo Council, has been working tirelessly for the betterment of our society. Such an act of aggression against a respected leader not only harms the individual but also undermines the unity and moral fabric of our society.
At approximately 7:30 PM last night, Mr. Richard was forcibly taken to the VK Montessori school campus, where he endured a harrowing experience of physical abuse. Blindfolded and subjected to severe beating, he was let off with visible injuries from the school premises. It is deeply troubling that such acts of violence can occur in such a place. This incident which occurred at a school needs serious retrospection.
In light of the recent events, the Kuki-Zo Council calls on those responsible for the attack to step forward and take responsibility for their actions. The failure to acknowledge their part in this attack will lead to consequences which could be detrimental for our society. It is crucial that the attackers step forward for dialogue and accountability, so that such unacceptable acts do not occur again in our society.
