Illegal WEAPONS & AMMUNITION Surrendered in Manipur Following Governor’s Appeal

Imphal, 22 Feb 2025 – In response to the appeal made by the Honourable Governor of Manipur on 20 February 2025, urging individuals to surrender illegal arms and ammunition, several weapons and related items have been handed over to the authorities, according to Manipur Police.

Weapons Surrendered in Different Districts

At the office of the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Kakching, Kakching District, the following items were submitted:

  • One .303 rifle with one magazine
  • Thirteen rounds of .303 ammunition
  • Four bulletproof vests
  • Five bulletproof plates
  • Four helmets

At the G. Saparmeina Police Station, Kangpokpi District:

  • One looted tear gas gun

Additionally, security forces handed over a cache of recovered weapons and ammunition to the Officer-in-Charge (OC) at Kakching Police Station, retrieved from the Kakching Wairi area. The recovered items include:

  • One 5.56 mm INSAS rifle
  • One 5.6 mm calibre rifle
  • One 12-bore rifle
  • One 12-bore short gun
  • One 9 mm pistol
  • One air pistol
  • One .303 rifle
  • Four 12-bore single-barrel rifles
  • One 12-bore water cannon
  • One 36 hand grenade
  • Twenty-seven 9 mm live rounds
  • Ninety-two 7.62 mm AK-47 live rounds
  • Forty 7.62 mm CTN rounds
  • Forty-five 5.56 mm INSAS live rounds
  • Thirteen INSAS 20 KF live rounds (small)
  • Sixty-five .303 live rounds
  • Thirty 12-bore live cartridges
  • Two 5.56 INSAS empty magazines
  • One .303 empty magazine
  • One 9 mm pistol magazine (Made in China)
  • Two .303 rifle telescope sights
  • One bipod (small)
  • Three 9 mm FCC rounds
  • Five .303 bore FCC rounds
  • Four 7.62 mm CTN FCC rounds
  • Two 7.62 mm AK FCC rounds
  • Four 5.56 mm INSAS FCC rounds
  • Two tear smoke shells
  • Thirteen small-sized Motorola sets
  • Nine Motorola charging adapters
  • One bayonet
  • Twenty-eight bulletproof jackets
  • Thirty-eight bulletproof plates
  • One helmet
  • One khukri
  • One CPU
  • Two black carry bags
  • One .45 calibre live round
  • Indian currency amounting to ₹2,50,000 (two lakh fifty thousand)

Authorities continue to encourage individuals to voluntarily surrender illegal arms in the interest of public safety and regional stability.
