-- FUTURE PASTORS and future FATHERS --
competing in an exciting showdown!
UTC PLAYERS |
The 11-member team
from Suvidya College (MSFS) was led by their captain, Edwin (Jersey 5), who
hails from the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya. Among the starting eleven players, 9
are from the northeastern states, as noted by Bosco Suanlamthang from Lamka,
who is currently pursuing a BA in Philosophy. These young athletes are
energetic, fast, and precise in their shots, making for an exciting match.
Despite their best efforts, neither side scored during regular time.

In extra time, as the match neared its end, a brief opportunity emerged inside UTC's penalty box. Suvidya's Ashish, a first-year student from Odisha, seized the moment and scored a brilliant goal, leading his team to victory.
These dynamic
footballers are not only skilled athletes but also future priests in training.
They are enrolled in a 3-year BA (Philosophy) program and will soon be ordained
as fathers, dedicating their lives to service in various ministries.
As impressive as
they are on the field, we believe these young men will equally excel in serving
God in their ministries.
Some of the UTC
players are already ordained pastors, while others are set to receive their
ordination soon. Some may pursue careers in teaching, missionary work, or other
fields of service.
We wish both teams
a joyous and blessed journey ahead!

About:
SUVIDYA COLLEGE, also known as the Fransalian Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences, was founded in 1984 to fulfill a longstanding vision. The Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (MSFS), which had been active in India since 1845, sought to establish a formation institute that would provide its young members with a religious education that was both thoroughly Christian and distinctly Indian. Recognizing the growing presence of MSFS in India, there was a need for a dedicated institute to cater to their educational and formation requirements.
Suvidya College began as a Philosophate in 1984, and in 1992, it became a common concern of the entire MSFS Congregation, with its administration entrusted to Indian Provincials. In 1996, Suvidya College was granted affiliation to the Pontifical University of Urbaniana in Rome, further solidifying its academic standing. In 2008, it entered into an agreement with DeSales University, Center Valley, PA, USA, for its B.Ph./B.A. Philosophy program.
Primarily serving MSFS provinces, the College also welcomes students from other religious congregations. Suvidya College aims to nurture intellectual and philosophical growth, offering a curriculum designed to foster a well-rounded and solid intellectual formation.
Suvidya College's motto, Vidyaya Amritam Ashnute, is derived from the Isa Upanishad. Knowledge and ignorance: he who knows the two together crosses death through ignorance And attains life eternal through knowledge(V.ll). Vidya is awareness of unity. Through the knowledge of unity one attains immortality.
The UNITED THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE (UTC) was founded in 1910 in Bengaluru as a pioneering institution for ecumenical theological education in India. It was initiated by missionaries and church leaders from various denominations, including Anglican, Methodist, and Presbyterian traditions, to train clergy and laity for ministry in a united and collaborative spirit. The college emphasized academic excellence and interdenominational unity, reflecting its vision of promoting Christian witness in a diverse cultural context. UTC became a prominent centre for theological studies, contributing significantly to the theological discourse in India. Its motto is “Not to be served, but to serve”.
