Press Release
SHOCKED TO HEAR OUR SISTER BURNT TO DEATH
The Mizo National Front (MNF) strongly condemns the brutal actions of the Meitei militants on November 7, 2024, during which they attacked Hmar tribal village, Zairawn, Jiribam district, Manipur, and tragically shot, captured, and burned a tribal woman Pi Zosangkim Hmar, (31), wife of Pu Ngurthansang to death.
The MNF expresses its deep sorrow and extends heartfelt condolences to her family, especially her children: Franky Lalchawisang (3), Victoria Laldomawi (9), and Lalringdik (7). May Almighty God bring comfort and strength to her bereaved family and loved ones.
It is deeply distressing to witness this horrific tragedy while efforts toward peace are ongoing. The MNF has consistently supported harmony between the two communities - the Manipur Zo tribes and the Meiteis. Nevertheless, the militants' actions clearly betray this peace process.
The MNF therefore urges the authorities to take prompt and decisive action against those responsible.
This tragedy serves as a wake-up call for Zo ethnic tribes worldwide. Our sister's sacrifice must inspire each of us to stand united, defend our lives, protect our identity, and uphold the dignity of our people against those who threaten our existence.
