JUST THREE DAYS
after the reported brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old Kuki-Zo woman in
Zairawn village, Jiribam, Manipur -- allegedly by Meitei militants -- 10 Kuki-Zo village volunteers were allegedly shot dead by CRPF personnel in
coordination with the Meitei militants in Jakuradhor-Karong village, Borobekra
sub-division in Jiribam on November 11, 2024.
The
CRPF, whom our volunteers had trusted, reportedly assured them that they would
not engage in conflict, according to one of the survivors. Disturbing photos shared on social media
show the bodies of our volunteers, some with their eyes gouged out, allegedly
by Meitei militants.

Post-mortem reports of Zosangkim Hmar reveal she was subjected to severe torture, with a nail reportedly driven into her left thigh. To conceal evidence, her body was burned along with her home, leaving the investigating doctor(s) struggling to confirm rape due to the extensive burns.
Unfortunately, much of the mainstream media refers to our brave volunteers, who defend our ancestral lands and our communities against intrusions from the valley, as “militants.” The Manipur state government and Meitei militants have labelled the Kuki-Zo community as “militants,” “narco-terrorists,” and “illegal.”
However,
the Kuki-Zo community has been unable to share the full truth with the public
due to bias from both the state and mainstream media since the outbreak of
violence in Manipur. More than 50 Kuki-Zo women, including a one-month-old
infant, have lost their lives, many mercilessly killed in Imphal, Manipur’s
capital, after the violence erupted.
Two Christian women and a kid burnt alive with ambulance in the heart of Imphal city in June last year. |
So far, more than 50 Kuki-Zo women have been brutally killed, with some reportedly raped and paraded naked. The world must acknowledge the inhumane treatment inflicted upon the Kuki-Zo tribal Christians by Hindu-Meitei forces, and an unequivocal condemnation must be made. The BJP-led government at the Center and in Manipur continues to turn a blind eye. Where is justice?
Manipur’s government, along with groups like Arambai Tenggol, Meitei Leepun, and Valley-Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs), continue to encroach upon Kuki-Zo lands. This raises a crucial question that demands an answer: “Why have the Meiteis consistently ventured into Kuki-Zo Hills first?”
November
12th was declared SHUTDOWN in Kuki-Zo areas of Manipur.
Two
influential student bodies -- the Zomi
Students’ Federation (ZSF-GHQ) and the Kuki
Students’ Organisation (KSO-GHQ) -- have declared a social boycott of the
CRPF in response to their perceived biased actions.
A Meitei man said: “Sir,
I will kill….”
The other man response: “Don’t,
kill, don’t kill, bring alive….”
She suffered gunshot
wounds to her legs while hiding beneath the bed, from where she was pulled out.
She was then allegedly raped outside her house, killed, and subjected to
extreme brutality—her brain was reportedly removed from her skull and thrown
inside the house, which was then covered with blankets and clothes before being
set on fire along with her body. Even her pet dog was shot dead, and its
intestines were removed. Later, Zosangkim’s charred remains were found
scattered.
The ten bodies will be transported to Lamka for a
final tribute via Mizoram, where Zo people are preparing to honour these brave
heroes with traditional shawls and garlands.
Why is the Ministry of Home Affairs PREVENTING this?
the Kuki-Zo tribal Christians by the Government of India.
