This is to inform all concerned that the Hmar Village Volunteers (HVVs) in Pherzawl District and Jiribam District are in deep distress following the brutal murder of our sister, Mrs. Zosangkim Hmar, wife of Ngurthansang Hmar, of Zairawn village, Jiribam District, by Meitei terrorists and violent extremists of Arambai Tengol (AT) on 7 November 2024.
We understand that the proscribed Meitei terrorists and AT extremists are hiding in various parts of the Jiribam area and are being sheltered by the local Meitei populace. It has also been learnt that the Meitei terrorists and AT members are receiving assistance and shelter from the Manipur state police and security forces.
The HVVs has no option but to retaliate against the Meitei terrorists and AT extremists in self-defence to protect our indigenous land and our innocent people, including women, children, and elders, who endure the most barbaric forms of torture and death at the hands of these extremists, with the support of the Manipur state police and commandos.
We request the support of the Central Security Forces in our endeavour to retaliate and expel the Meitei terrorists and AT extremists from our Kuki-Zomi-Hmar ancestral lands in the Jiribam area. We further reiterate that the HVVs is not in conflict with the Central Forces (CFs).
At the same time the HVVs strongly condemn the irresponsible actions of one Central Forces unit, which resulted in the loss of at least 11 precious lives of volunteers dedicated to protecting their ancestral lands and people. We urgently call for the intervention of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to assess the situation and deliver justice to the victims of this tragic incident.
