CONDEMNATION

26th November, 2024 --- The recent reports concerning the abduction and subsequent discovery of the deceased bodies of six Meitei Christian civilians in Jiribam are unequivocally denounced by our organization.

The Ima Leibak Kanba Lup, which possesses a robust intelligence network within Manipur, has subsequently determined that this incident was orchestrated by adherents of Meitei Sanamahi, specifically the promoters Sanajaoba and Arambai Tenggol, with the intent to incite discord among the Kuki and Meitei communities, who have coexisted peacefully in Jiribam and other regions of Manipur prior to the catastrophic events of May 3, 2023, which precipitated animosities between these two ethnic groups and resulted in widespread violence.

As per the intelligence gathered, the six Meitei captives were present during the incident when Hmar Volunteers were engaged in the arson of Meitei residences in Yairon, Jiribam, as a retaliatory response to the fatalities of Hmar women at the hands of Meitei Sanamahi followers, including Arambai Tenggol and personnel from the Manipur Police Commando. Despite the potential for lethal violence against the captives at that moment, the Hmar Volunteers, adhering to their Christian principles, refrained from committing further atrocities and instead rendered assistance to women and children trapped within the engulfed structures. However, following the announcement of the deaths of ten Hmar Volunteers by CRPF and Manipur Police Commando, the Hmar Volunteers, having previously rescued six women and children along with two men, subsequently executed the male captives while releasing the women and children on humanitarian grounds. Conversely, the Arambai Tenggol, acting under directives from Chief Minister Biren Singh, perpetrated merciless killings of the women and children, discarding their bodies into the Jiri River to intensify the violence and obscure the egregious crimes committed against Hmar women.

Consequently, we urge the populace of Manipur to scrutinize the complicity of Chief Minister Biren Singh and Member of Parliament Leishemba Sanajaoba in inciting violence between the various communities in Manipur, asserting that they must be held responsible for the calamities that have afflicted the state.

We, the Meitei and Kuki, are inherently inseparable in Manipur, and we shall persist in our collective identity as one Manipuri in the future.
