On October 5, 2024, a meeting of Zo United was held at the YMA Hall in Lamka, attended by representatives from 27 constituent bodies under Zo United. Key agenda items included discussions on the future of Zo United and whether the organization should retain its name or be rebranded and elevated to the Kuki-Zo Council. A total of 30 constituent bodies participated in the voting process, with 3—COTU, MTFD, and KI Saikul—casting their votes online.
Of the 30 votes cast, 9 opted to retain the name Zo United, 19 favoured renaming it to Kuki-Zo Council, 1 supported Kuki-Mizo Council, and 1 remained neutral.
Based on the majority vote, it was resolved that Zo United will be renamed the Kuki-Zo Council and upgraded to a political platform. This decision will be submitted to the Mizoram NGO Coordination Committee for approval, with the formation of the new Kuki-Zo Council expected to be completed within two weeks.
