Lengjang Kuki was an exceptional Dobashi during British rule in the Naga Hills, known for his proficiency in Assamese, Angami, Sema, and English. Appointed for his character and linguistic skills, not formal education, he earned the respect of his people and eventually became the Head Dobashi under the Deputy Commissioner in Kohima. Despite the 1917-18 Kuki Rebellion in Manipur, the Kuki Villages in Naga Hills, under Lengjang's leadership, did not participate. Lengjang also signed the 1929 Naga Club Memorandum to the Simon Commission, showcasing his wisdom and foresight.
