Jeppiar Fishing Harbour

Nestled in the charming coastal village of Muttom, Kanyakumari, JEPPIAR FISHING HARBOUR buzzes with life and energy. It’s a hub for local fishermen and a fascinating spot for visitors to witness the rhythm of coastal life. From colourful fishing boats to lively fish auctions, the harbour offers a unique glimpse into the region’s vibrant fishing culture, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Arabian Sea. A must-visit for anyone exploring the coastal charm of Tamil Nadu!

While exploring and taking pictures at the harbour, the captain of a fishing boat approached our Tamil friend. He looked pale and downcast and shared that he hadn’t had a good catch in days, leaving him unable to pay his crew, which in turn affected their families. With a heavy heart, he requested prayers for blessings.

Moved by his plea, I prayed for the captain, his ship, and the crew. Our Telugu friend followed by praying for the families of the crew members. Our Tamil friend translated the prayers, ensuring they reached the hearts of everyone present. It was a deeply humbling and spiritual moment amidst the bustle of the harbour.

God’s answer is not always immediate, but it is always faithful and just.

This boat is equipped with a wooden floor for sleeping, a small kitchen, a water tap, and a clean toilet. The lower section houses the engine, reinforced with iron rods and roofing. The boat’s walls are vibrantly painted, adding to its charm.
The captain even offered us something to eat -- a sea creature!
We gave it a try, and it tasted a bit like snail, surprisingly tasty.
However, the chili seasoning was fiery hot!
The crew members, curious about me, were whispering among themselves and even asking our Tamil friend whether I was from Japan or elsewhere. It was quite amusing, likely because they rarely encounter visitors like us.

The last time I visited with my Telugu friend, a security guard informed us, “Visitors not allowed.” When we tried to take a picture in front of the JPR Gate, he shook his head, saying, “Photographs not allowed.”

But this time, we took things up a notch -- we even climbed aboard a ship and had a blast taking selfies!🤳😉
