Why Are Iranian People Happy About Israel's Attack?
Many Iranians have expressed approval of Israel's recent strike targeting Iran's military. For the past three years, there has been a growing outcry among the Iranian populace urging the U.S. or Israel to intervene—an unprecedented plea in history.
This desire for foreign assistance arises from the deep despair and hopelessness experienced under the oppressive Islamic regime. Having dedicated four decades to ministry among Iranians, I have witnessed firsthand their anguish and yearning for change.
Over the past 20 years, the Iranian people have bravely sought to rise against their government, with protests sometimes drawing over a million participants. Yet, each uprising has met with brutal repression—thousands of young lives lost, many more captured and subjected to horrific and inhumane treatments. This cycle of violence has instilled a paralyzing fear, leaving the people feeling trapped with no viable means of resistance.
What the Iranian people seek is not the destruction of their homeland or the loss of innocent lives, but a targeted intervention aimed at the regime's leadership, particularly Supreme Leader Khamenei and the clerics in power. They recognize that powerful nations have the ability to dismantle such leadership, as was done to Hezbollah.
While Israel's recent attack may serve as a glimmer of hope for the Iranian people, only time will reveal whether these strikes will lead to the removal of corrupt leadership and a restoration of hope and freedom in Iran.
