August 9 is a day of memories: painful and powerful, yet all inspirational!
In 1942 the Quit India Movement went into action after that unwavering call the previous night to "DO or DIE"
That very day, Edith Stein, a Jewish philosopher who became a Catholic Nun (St Teresa Benedicta) was killed by the Nazis in the gas chambers of Auschwitz because of her unequivocal stand and writings against the regime.
In 1945, the world experienced the horror and suffering of another nuclear bomb- this time on Nagasaki.
It is also the International Day of the Worlds Indigenous Peoples.
We fondly remember the commitment of Fr Stan Swamy and his accompaniment of the Adivasis in their struggle for their jal, jungle aur jameen! Jai Adivasi!
Great inspirations: much more still to be done by us!
