After independence during 1956-57, the Songpi Chief Pu (L)Semthong Haokip [ Grandson of (L)Thonghel ] gifted the present day Zenhang Lamka (Bijang Loubuk) and Hiangtam Lamka under the jurisdiction of Songpi, to *Pu Zenhang Valte* and *Pu Phungkhothang Guite.* This was done as per the Kuki traditional system of gifting of land through a jar of wine (Jubel/Dangkabel)
Both Zenhang Lamka and Hiangtam Lamka were recorded as scheduled villages by Lhunkholet Kipgen, SDO Songpi (SW) Sub-Division in the Manipur Gazette_ dated, the 4th December 1957. As a sign of gratitude, Pu Zenhang Valte named his son "Letboi" after the name of SDO Khupkholet, as per Kuki traditional system of naming.
