Muangpu, a divorcee, lived with his three children (13, 9 and 6 years old) in Vengnuam, Dibonkhunou locality in Jiribam town.
On June 6, 2024, Muangpu went to fix a faulty electrical wiring at his sister’s house. When he came back home around 7:30 pm, a group of Arambai Tenggol members were waiting outside his house in a Gypsy. Meiteis had started targeting some tribal houses in Jiribam around the time.
When he reached home, the men, who were carrying guns, grabbed him an pushed him inside the Gypsy. This happened in front of his children. He remains missing to this day.
Muangpu’s eldest, 13-year-old Siamlian, said the men who took his father wore Arambai uniforms and he recognised one of them – Jackson from Uchathol in Jiribam. His Instagram account is 2009_jackson
Muangpu’s children were eventually brought to their uncle’s house in Lamka.
