We, The Mizoram Church Leader’s Committee (MKHC) expresses serious concern over the ethnic clashes that broke out between two communities in the neighbouring state of Manipur since the 3rd of May 2023 and condemns in the strongest term the destruction of churches and sacrileges perpetrated by heedless people, without any respect to the sentiment of the religious minded people, for which The Mizoram Church Leader’s Committee (MKHC) calls for the complete stop of all such scornful act of irreverence to religious properties.
We are extremely pained at the loss of many precious innocent lives and shared the grief of the many families who lost their loved ones from this ongoing violent conflict.
We sincerely appeal all the concern leaders of the central and state governments, the community leaders, organizations and individuals from both the communities to work for reconciliation, immediate restoration of peace and harmony, and amicable permanent solution.
