Melancholic forlorn burial of NE sister from Assam in Delhi Burari graveyard - too many NE young naive maids are dying in cities. Endeavors to reach out by legal & counselors of Helping Hands.
New Delhi, 20 July 2023: One of young north east maid from Udalguri, died at Safdarjung Hospital due to pressure, diabetes after battling for weeks, Pastor Daimary desperately reached out to me for her last emotive funeral expenditures. With permission from her village relatives, she was buried with all the rituals of decent burial at Burari graveyard by us today by us.
What made me feel sad and helplessness is that Helping Hands has buried many young maids who died in Delhi NCR here in Burari and Dwarka graveyards.
- Even the Richard Incharge of graveyard was concerned.
- Every months, every years ..hundreds of young illiterate females are brought in to Delhi and other cities for petty working jobs at homes of rich people, or for baby sitters, cleaner, cook with petty salary by many middle men who visits the remote villages and small towns in North East states giving them full of promises of better life in cities by these unregulated so called placements agencies secretly .
- Many became victims of untold both physically and mental exploitationns.
- Many dies, many commit suicide, many became addicted to alcohol and drugs ...living in dirty tiny cramped ghettos of Delhi without basic facilities.
- Helping Hands only reached to them, when they are in woes, no one to fall back, no one to share their bottled emotive cries, by than, it's too late to save them.
Cases are increasing day by day .
- Today while lowering her coffin at grave ....shriek of pang of pains stung my heart with an eternal elusive query which endemically raised in my heart whenever, Helping Hands buries these young youth in graveyards of Delhi and other cities -
"Really do we have no chance in north eastern states for better life ...for these youth who ventured out and dies here to be buried away from loved ones back home ?"
I find NO ANSWER ALWAYS.
- Rest in peace Sister Shrawani Basumutary, this the least we could do for your last journey. 😔
