Exclusive Interview: Grace Simte, Makeup Artist


IN a candid chat with this young lady, she shared her story. Sorrow overshadowed her soon after her parents died. Out of the three siblings, she’s the middle, of two brothers. She began restless searching for an opportunity to stand on her own feet.  Both, her dad and mom passed away in 2012.  Inspite of many odds, she managed to passed XII standard. She hails from Kamdou Veng, Churachandpur, who is now residing in Gurgaon, with her younger brother – a college going student. She earnestly prayed to God. Gradually, she landed up into the world of make-up!
Here are the excerpts from the chat between this sweet lady Grace Simte and Bruce K. Thangkhal, Editor, KHALVONTAWI.COM and Joint Editor, Zogam Today.

ZT:  Thank you for sparing your time.
GS: I am honoured.

ZT: Can you tell us something about yourself?
GS: My name is Grace Simte. And I am a Certified Professional Makeup Artist. Currently working in Gurgaon, Haryana.

ZT: What actually is your job profile?
GS: A Certified Makeup Artist & also a Nail Technician.

ZT: Is this a regular or part time?
GS: It’s a regular Job.

ZT: How long have you been into this profession?
GS: I’ve been working in this field for the past 2 years.

ZT: Anyone refer you?
GS: It’s always been my passion since my childhood. I would say it’s my determination that brought me unto this day.

ZT: Is this job, only for women?
GS: No, not at all. It’s for both male and female.

ZT: Where did you learn Makeup and Nail Extension?
GS: I was certified from Aashmeen Munjaal Star Academy, Gurgaon and I have learnt Nail work from Paint Box, Gurgaon.

ZT: What was your last job?
GS: I use to work as a Marketing Manager for a Guest House.

ZT: Before you came to Delhi, where were you?
GS: Manipur.

ZT: When did you landed in Delhi?
GS: In 2017.

ZT: What was your childhood dream?
GS: I actually dreamt of becoming Air Hostess or Singer, and ofcourse a Makeup Artist!

ZT: I’ve seen your singing in social media. Have you record any song so far? Or Any plan to make album?
GS: I actually got a chance to work with Mr L. Mawia Simte (artist) on a song and recorded it. I am planning to work on my singles in the coming days. My song is currently on Youtube…You can check it out. (Song name: Ka Selung Muanna)

ZT: What is your hobby?
GS: Well…I really love to sing and dance. You know all the girly stuffs...

ZT: Your favourite singer? 
GS: I am really fascinated by Lauren Daigle. She is a Christian Singer… apparently it was her song that brought me closer to God.

ZT: Who is your favourite person? 
GS: Mom & Dad

ZT: Your favourite sport?
GS: I am not a sport person…but, I do like to play badminton.
 
ZT: Which place do you like to visit?
GS: I would really love to go to London.

ZT: Do you ever sing in the church or any event, before? 
GS: Actually I am a part of the worship team in our Church (ANDF Church, Gurgaon)

ZT: Is your place safe for women?
GS: Ahhh…I would say there’s no place safe for anyone. Anything can happen to anyone. But! Despite a lot of Crazy NEWS we have heard on TV and other media. God have been protecting me from trouble! So, I think we are only safe in His hands.

ZT: Do you ever face any harassment or racial abusive?
GS: No, nothing at all.

ZT: Do you love Bollywood songs?
GS: I love Arijit Singh and most of his songs.

ZT: How do you spend your Sundays?
GS: I go to Church every Sunday. Sometimes hang out with friends.

ZT: How do you feel without parents?
GS: I do actually miss them but God has been strengthening me to move on. 

ZT: Any favourite singers from our Churachandpur?
GS: Currently, I like Christina Shakum. But Hatboi Zou will be my all-time favourite.

ZT: Your favourite local song?
GS: Vangkhojol by Benny Khongsai

ZT: Any plan for Valentine’s Day?
GS: It’s secret!

ZT: Your favourite punchline?
GS: “Life is a succession of lessons of which must be lived to be understood.”

ZT: Are you in social media?
GS: Yes I am on FB, Insta and I recently created my own Youtube account.

GS: Getting a chance or capable to help someone in need!

ZT:  Have you come across any happy moments, which you won’t forget?
GS: When I got my first salary.

ZT: Can you share us what do you observed in the city? 
GS: Actually I do agree that North East people are really hardworking and very wise in their work. But not to brag, we the NE are the most honest and trustworthy people. 

ZT: Any piece of advice to our readers?
GS: “In whatever situation God has put you in, it’s not your final destination! The best is yet to come.”
