SIKKIM, MAY 27, 2020: Daughter of Sikkim, Perilla Bhandari, who commissioned as a United States Army Officer in 2005 has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on May 21st 2020.
Perilla Bhandari is the youngest daughter of former Sikkim Chief Minister, Late Nar Bahadur Bhandari, and former Lok Sabha MP Smti Dil Kumari Bhandari. Perhaps she is the only Gorkha woman to hold this rank in the US Army so far.
She has successfully completed three combat tours and has won many awards such as Soldier of the Year, Logistics Warrior and Military Leadership Award.
