A veteran and senior politician from Churachandpur Mr Phungzathang Tonsing breathed his last at the Apollo Hospital in New Delhi on 19 Dec 2018 around 7.30pm. He was 79.
An Ex-minister and President of National People's Party, Mr Tonsing left behind his beloved wife, 2 sons and 3 daughters.
Born to late Mr T Tualpum in Bungpilon Village in 1939.
Mr Phungzathang Tonsing was considered as the "PAITE NAMPA" (Father of Paite Tribe).
He was elected as an MLA for 6 terms. He left a wide void which is a big lost for the tribals of Manipur state.
