Shri Thangso Baite, Hon'ble MP delivering condolence speech in New Delhi on 14 March 2018 |
He was a true pioneer
amongst the Vaiphei tribe which fondly remembers him more for his down to earth
simplicity and hardworking nature with tremendous dedication as well as for his
outspoken nature for what he felt was right at any level. He was the first
Vaiphei to passed MA alongwith his lifelong friend Pu Somkholal Vaiphei in 1967
and the first Vaiphei to crack the Civil Services Exams and to joine the
Central Services Group A in 1975. He was the first native of Manipur to become
the Accountant General of Manipur in 1995 and retired as Controller of Defence
Accounts in which capacity he served in Jabalpur, New Delhi and Guwahati.
Post-retirement, he
dedicated more than 5 years of his life in translating the Holy Bible into
Vaiphei sourcing his translation from multiple sources like the King James
Version, Revised King James Version, NIV, Good News, the earlier Vaiphei
Bibles, Lushai Bibles, Hmar Bibles, Paite Bibles and many other Biblical
references. His translation of the Vaiphei Bible is under printing with the
sample prints having been seen by him almost 2 months ago and the release of
the same was anticipated in another week’s time. The tremendous effort he gave
to bringing out a translation of the Holy Bible in Vaiphei is perhaps the best
manifestation of his life - the hardwork he puts into any of his assignments,
the sincerity and commitment he exhibits in any challenge he takes up and the
unwavering belief he has in the Salvation of the Lord God Almighty through
Jesus our Saviour under whose ever loving kindness and amazing grace he lived a
truly fulfilling life, both in the context of our worldly considerations as
well as in the higher yardsticks of the spiritual calling of our our Lord God
Almighty - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, which always reflected the
tender mercies of the Lord !
Condolence service |
He was diagnosed of liver
tumour in the first week of Feb, 2018 at Shillong and was rushed to Delhi for
medical treatment at Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS) where the
severity of his medical case compelled the doctors at ILBS to refer him to
Medanta - the Medicity at Gurugram where T.A.R.E intervention was to advised but
couldn’t be attempted due to his increasingly weak physical constitution.
He was further taken to
Fortis where the new drug of Opdivo was being considered but could not be taken
up due to the same reasons for fear of further complications. He was fresh,
hale and hearty on 12 March which have a wonderful opportunity for time
together with family. He suddenly developed weaknesses and complications the
next time on 13 March and was brought to ILBS where he was admitted in the
Emergency and thereafter transferred to the Liver Coma ICU the same afternoon.
His life underwent the transformation into spiritual immortality into the ever
loving and waiting arms of His Saviour Jesus Christ this morning around 8.30am.
He mortal remains are planned to be taken to his home city of Shillong for
funeral on 15/16 March 2018.
