LAMKA, 27 JAN 2015: The Song Composed Audition Competition for the upcoming 67th Zomi Nam Ni cum Mithun Festival 2015 took place at the Dorcas Hall Auditorium on January 27, 2015.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Demmang Haokip, Vice Chairman of the Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur. In his address as the chief guest, Haokip commended the organizers for providing a valuable platform for emerging singers.
The competition featured two categories: Modern Song and Folk Song. Seventeen participants showcased their talents in the Modern Song category, while five competitors participated in the Folk Song category. Results will be announced during Zomi Nam Ni on February 20, with the winners receiving cash prizes of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 10,000 for first, second, and third places, respectively.
The Song Competition was overseen by Mr. S Dal Sian Pau, Secretary of the Zomi Language & Literature Society (ZOLLS), and Mr. Sanglian from Singzabuong Arts. The event was live-telecasted by a local TV channel.
The judging panel comprised renowned songwriter Mr. V Siampu, who has composed around 400 songs; Mr. Stephen Mang, Associate Secretary of the Zomi Upliftment Society in Myanmar, known for over 40 compositions; and Mr. H Pauzachin, who has created about 50 songs.
The program was graced by several dignitaries, including Mr. Langkhanpau Guite, Chairman of the ADCC; Jamkhanpau, a member of the ADCC; Mr. Minboi Vaiphei, another member of the ADCC; Ms. Grace Zamnu; and Mr. Suanchinpau Guite.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. M Gouzamang Guite, Coordinator of the Song Competition for Zomi Nam Ni 2015, who also serves as an Executive Member of the ADCC.
Earlier, on January 24, the Zomi Nam Ni Sketch Competition took place, with hundreds of young artists capturing images of Zomi leaders under the theme “Any Zomi Leaders.”
Additionally, an Essay Competition on the topic “Zomi After 20 Years” has been organized by the board, with prizes to be awarded on the day of Zomi Nam Ni.
