Republic Day observed amidst tight security in Manipur

LAMKA, 27 JAN 2015: The 66th Indian Republic Day was observed in all over the state of Manipur amidst tight security, preceded by several bomb blasts in the state. In Churachandpur district headquarters the Republic Day celebration took place in Lamka Public ground in which the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur Mr Lunminthang Haokip, IAS unfurled the national flag and pay salute to the parade contingents. Prizes were given to the parade contingents. 


In A (NCC) Category, Rayburn NNC Jr Wing, CCPur Govt H/S NCC Jr Divn and Rayburn NCC Sr Divn bagged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively.


In B (Sr Boys) category, 1st JNY Sr Boys, 2nd Donbosco Hr Sec School Sr Boys, and 3rd SSPP Residential School.


In C (Sr Girls) Category, 1st JNY Sr Gils, 2nd Donbosco Hr Sec School SR Girls, 3rd Phungkhothang H/S SR Girls.


In D (Junior Boys) Category, 1st JNV Jr Boys, 2nd Mishao Lhahvom JBS, 3rd Tuibuang Jr H/S


In E (Junior Girls) Category, 1st JNV Jr Girls, 2nd Tuibuang JR H/S, 3rd Mishao Lhahvom JBS.


The Forest Department bagged best prize in Republic Gate design or decoration while the best stall award was bagged by the Agriculture & Horticulture Department.


Food and Civil Supply (FCS) Department has distributed Kerosene Oil, Rice, Sugar and Potatoes.


One person can get 5 litres of K-oil at the rate of Rs 25 per litre, 5 kg of potatoes at the rate of Rs 15 per kg, 5 kg of rice at the rate of Rs 12 per kg, and 2 kg of sugar at the rate of Rs 25. Three barrels of K-oil stood near FCS stall where a number of womenfolk queued for their turn.  Each barrel contained 255 litres of K-oil. Kerosene Oil is one of the most necessities of the people.


The District Administration, Churachandpur awarded 20 red blankets to 17 chief, and three ex-servicemen in recognition of their valuable service to the Churachandpur District.  It also awarded 40 appreciation certificates to 39 government employees and one NGO in recognition to their valuable service to the Churachandpur District. 


The families of 13 victims of dog bite were given Rs 20,000 as compensation. Various artistes mesmerized the crowd with their melodious songs.


After the programme, there was a friendly football match between the Public Leaders and DLOs which ended in the victory of Public Leaders by scoring one goal against the DLO team.

Mr Langkhanpau, Chariman ADCC (District Council), Mr Demmang Haokip, Vice Chairman  ADCC & EM (ADCC) and other officials, Assam Rifles, BSF, IRF officers, and DLOs attended the football match.
