New Delhi, 11 Sep 2014: Just two days after a girl from Manipur was stabbed in Dwarka, another girl from Arunachal Pradesh was attacked with knives by unknown assailants in South Delhi on Wednesday (Sep 9) night. This marks the second brutal assault on girls from the Northeast in the national capital within three days.
The victim, a staff nurse at AIIMS, was attacked while on night duty. The attackers attempted to strangle her, according to the police. An FIR has been registered at Hauz Khas police station, though no arrests had been made at the time of this report.
Robin Hibu, IPS, Nodal Officer for North East, Delhi Police, stated that he had contacted the SHO, urging immediate arrests.
Earlier, on Monday night, a girl from Manipur was stabbed multiple times by three men in Dwarka Sector 22. She sustained several injuries and was hospitalized but later discharged. In that case, police apprehended one suspect, but his accomplices remain at large.
