Gangtok, August 5, 2014: Mr. Tshering Wangdi Lepcha, Minister for Science and Technology, Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management, and Mines, Minerals, and Geology, inaugurated a new Science Library at the UD & HD Building in Development Area today.
During his interaction with officials from the Science and Technology Department and teachers from various schools in and around Gangtok, the Minister emphasized the importance of the library for students. He encouraged teachers and parents to motivate their children to visit the library, stating that although it is small, it boasts a valuable collection of books catering to diverse interests. He urged educators to explore innovative teaching methods to make science engaging and exciting, fostering a greater interest in the subject among students.
Mr. Lepcha also highlighted the need for students to utilize libraries and study centers to enhance their knowledge alongside their regular studies. He expressed gratitude to the Secretary and his team for their efforts in establishing and reforming the library.
Mr. P.T. Euthenpa, Secretary of Science and Technology, shared that the library offers a wide range of books across various subjects, including research materials and studies specific to Sikkim. He urged the community to take advantage of the library's resources, which are free for students.
Ms. Sarala Rai, Special Secretary of Science and Technology, provided insights into the library's background and purpose.
