Gangtok, August 5, 2014: Mr. N.K. Subba, Minister for Urban Development and Housing Department, inaugurated a newly constructed "Cobbler Shed" in the heart of Gangtok, located at Sonam Gyatso Marg (also known as Tibet Road), today.

The shed, implemented by Gangtok Municipal Corporation (GMC) and funded by the Housing & Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO), covers an area of 425 square feet and can accommodate 15 cobblers. Built at an estimated cost of Rs 23 lakhs, it aims to provide a dedicated workspace for local cobblers.

During his inspection of the shed, Minister Subba urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the facility and maintain it properly. One of the beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government and relevant departments for providing this much-needed space for their trade.
