The program kicked off with a grand dinner
organized by DMZP, setting the tone for the vibrant evening. DMZP Vice
President Zairemsiama chaired the event, and Lalrempuii Khiangte, a committee
member, opened with a prayer. General Secretary Lalramngheta Ngente followed
with a detailed report of DMZP’s activities for the 2012–13 session.
The report highlighted several initiatives,
including the publication of the DMZP prospectus for Mizo students, the DMZP
Talk Show, the Undergraduate Registration Help Desk at Delhi University, and a
silent protest against the Hindi/MIL compulsory policy in DU. Other notable
activities included sports events, an orientation seminar, the publication of Rihnim
(the official newsletter), and the Zonunmawi annual magazine. DMZP’s cultural
troupe, T-shirt design projects, blood donation drives (with 100 units donated
so far), and an active Facebook group also made the list.

The DMZP Zaipawl (Choir) added to the evening’s charm with a harmonious chorus, while Zorammawia addressed the gathering, urging the freshers to honor their parents and strive for success. He concluded with a prayer of blessing. The first session ended with a vote of thanks by DMZP Vice President VL Muanpuia Tochhawng.
The second session, “DMZP Rock Night,” began at 8
PM and lived up to its name. Young boys and girls filled the dance floor,
swaying and head-banging to the beats from the DMZP Band. Despite the high
energy, the crowd maintained order, enjoying the night in a spirited but
peaceful manner. Security personnel from DMTI ensured smooth proceedings.
The DMZP Band, comprising talented young Mizos,
stole the show. Lead guitarist Lalbiakmuana, an LLB student at DU, displayed
masterful fingerwork on the strings. Drummer Melody, an MA Political Science
