Zous celebrate Zogal Day in Manipur

Lamka, March 17, 2013 [TSE] --- Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhanngam along with some of his Cabinet colleagues today attended the Zogal Day cum Zouton celebration at Zogal Memorial Hall complex here. Gaikhanngam while addressing the 94th Zogal Day celebration said calls for a fresh approach to develop the State. All the people living in the State of Manipur, despite the diversity in dialects belongs to Manipur, and peaceful co-existence should always be our priority, our collective efforts, he said. He also appealed the celebration organizer - the United Zou Organisation to be an organization that promotes peace and unity in the state and not to be a problem for the State. Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, Parliamentary Secretary V Valte, Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip and Singngat MLA GS Haupu, among others, have attended the day's celebration that was observed with a massive public feast. The feast was hosted at Zoumunnuam village with six cows and two pigs. IPR Minister K Meghachandra, Thanga MLA Mangibabu, Chandel MLA St Nunghlung Victor and Sekmai MLA K Devendro Singh and Chairman ADC Chandel M Sesei Zou also attended the night programme that began from 6pm at the same venue and with the same fervor. Zogal according to organisers was celebrated to commemorate the resistance put-up by Zou heroes against the British imperialist and the selfless sacrifices made during the 1917-1919 resistance.
