New Delhi, July 17, 2009: Maharashtra Police has failed to nap the culprits of four Naga students who were attacked in Pune last month. Help is sought from State Governor. National capital continue to witness racial attack on North East communities. According to the source reaching to North East Support Centre & Helpline from the President of Naga Students Union, (NSUP) Pune, told that Police has not taken any steps to nap the culprits nor contacted the victims. “The victims and the north east communities have no hopes left after police failed to perform their duties,” says, the President of NSUP.
The incident happened on June 21 at around 11.45 PM at Salisbury Park, Pune where two Naga students were attacked by a group of people, allegedly belonging to the locality. Two other Naga boys who came out to help were also beaten severely. The Commissioner of Police, Pune was appealed on July 8, 2009 to look into the matter and no action has been taken so far.
North East Support Centre & Helpline has appealed Maharashtra Governor Sri S. C. Jamir after state Police blocked their ears to the plea against the racial attack on four Naga students. The text of the memorandum faxed to Maharashtra Governor is enclosed below.
In another incident at National capital, a boy from Manipur was attacked on July 15, 2009 at around 12 midnight, by three unknown persons in Mahipalpur, New Delhi. He was coming from his night shift job in a private company at Gurgaon. He was attacked with lethal iron rods while he was walking through the street leading to his rented house.

The four students were severely beaten, one injured badly and had to admit in the hospital and got five stitches on forehead.
The President of Naga Students Union, Pune reported that police has not taken any further step to nap the culprits. In this connection, we have written to Commissioner of Police, Pune with request to look into the matter on June 8, 2009. Till today, there has been no action taken up by the concern police officers.
Your Excellency is approached with humble request to kindly instruct the state police official to look into the matter and justice be given to the victims and the culprits must be booked under the law of the state. Hence the north east students may be prevented from any possible racial attacks.
